The Prayer Shawl and Quilt Ministry
This ministry makes special shawls and quilts that are blessed by the members of the ministry to be given to anyone who is ill or having surgery. They are given for other purposes, but illness and surgery are some of the most common reasons to give a prayer shawl or prayer quilt. If you know someone who is ill or having surgery or recovering, please contact Terry Angwin, Jackie Urbain, or call the parish office to obtain a quilt or shawl to give to the person. You may take the shawl or quilt to the recipient, or we can deliver it. The recipient does not need to be Catholic of a member of the parish. God's love, mercy and compassion is meant for everyone.
The Prayer Shawl and Quilt Ministry gathers for workdays twice each month one Monday and one Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm (except during the summer months) in the community center to work on prayer shawls and quilts. No experience is needed to participate in this ministry. Participants in this ministry have found a special fellowship as they work together to pray and stitch. Over 800 prayer shawls and prayer quilts have been given away to parishioners and to family and friends around the country since the ministry began in our parish. Anyone interested in participating or requesting a prayer shawl or prayer quilt may call Jackie Urbain at (517) 669-5060 or Terry Angwin (517) 669-9745.
Donations of cotton fabric and worsted or homespun yarn are always appreciated.
On Mondays, please bring a sack lunch but on Saturdays bring something for a salad/dessert potluck luncheon.
